WORD FOCUS: LORD, OPEN MY EYES
TEXT: 2 Kings 6: 16-17 “16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha…”
The Bible records: ‘When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh, my lord, what shall we do?” the servant asked. “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those are who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes so he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.’ (vv.15-17). By God’s power, the servant saw angels and God can help you to see His hand at work in what you’re going through today. He never promises to remove us from our struggles, but He promises to change the way we look at them.
After listing many of his problems, Paul writes: ‘In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him…’ The solution is not to avoid trouble, but to change the way we see it. God let Elisha’s servant saw an army of angels, Jacob saw a ladder that went into heaven, and Saul of Tarsus saw Jesus on the road to Damascus. Today ask God to let you see His hand in whatever you are going through
