TOPIC: TO FOLLOW CHRIST, YOU MUST KEEP LEARNING
TEXT: 2 Peter 1:5 “But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,..”

As a believer and a leader to-be, you should stand on this Scripture: ‘[GOD’S] divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life …He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature…For this… reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love ….and unproductive(Vs. 3-8 NIV).
Note the word ‘add’. Whether you’re a leader at home, your Community, workplace, or the church, you must keep learning and growing. When you continually invest in yourself, overtime the inevitable result is growth. Although, it’s true to some extent that some people are born with greater natural gifts than others, but the ability to lead is really a collection of skills, nearly all of which can be learned and improved. The process doesn’t happen overnight, Leadership is complicated. It has many different facets such as: respect experience, emotional strength, people skills, discipline vision, momentum, and timing—the list goes on and on. The truth is, in order to keep leading and following God as well, you must keep learning and the learning process is ongoing, resulting from self-discipline and perseverance. Your goal must be to get a little better each day, to build on the previous day’s success, and to learn from its failure. Solomon puts it this way: ‘A wise man will hear and increase learning’ (Proverbs 1:5 NKJV). By God’s grace, this index of virtues implies; that a believer must be involved in your Christian growth, Adding to your Faith in God through Christ; these seven qualities with diligent effort to cultivate them in order to be spiritually victorious and fruitful before God.
