TOPIC: THE LOVE OF GOD NEVER FAILS

FRIDAY 14TH JULY 2017

TOPIC: THE LOVE OF GOD NEVER FAILS
TEXT: 1 Corinthians 13:8 “Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

The Greek word for love is agape. It is a giving, selfless, expecting nothing- in –return- kind of love. It is full of power- the resurrection power. We all have people in our lives that are difficult at times. Probably, it could be someone we work with, a family/ church member or even our spouse. Relationships can be complicated, but remember: love never fails. This love is like a calling which is not of our making. It comes from God; when we turn to God for a new life in His name, He pours His love into our hearts the Holy Spirit (Rom 5:5). The Word of God clearly defines love in 1 Corinthians 13. It says that love is patient and kind. It doesn’t seek its own way. Love doesn’t keep a record of wrongs. Most importantly, love never fails. Notice that this chapter doesn’t talk at all about how you feel. God’s love isn’t about feelings. It’s a choice. You can choose to be patient, even when you don’t feel like being patient. You can choose to be kind, even when you don’t feel like being kind.
No matter the situation you find yourself in, to love is the best choice. Every other will fail, but love will continue forever. It is based on a deliberate choice of the one who loves rather than the worthiness of the one who is loved. You are never more like God than when you are walking in love. When you are walking in love, you will never fail because love never fails, for God is love. Open your heart to God’s love today. Receive His love and ask Him to show you and teach you how to love others better because love never fails! Prayerfully study the fourth chapter of first John.
