TOPIC: KEEP YOUR EYES FIXED ON JESUS
TEXT: HEBREWS 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God…”
Happy celebrations 2018; beloved it has pleased our Father God in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to usher us into this year of all round divine favour. In the light of this, there is need to respond by fixing your gaze unto Him. First and foremost, let us remind ourselves of what these key words means. To keep entails direct, hold in, observe; fix means immovable, firm, set and entrench. Most importantly Jesus who captures the Word of God that is unshakeable- unquestionable, unfaltering and unwavering. With the uncertainty around us and the entire world today there is so much groaning such as pains, injustice tribulations, hunger, etc. The good news is that God’s unfailing perfect love for us never fails. The clarion call is to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. This is non- negotiable and not optional as well. Saddled with serious shaking and amid distractions, Jesus says there is a lifting up. Our Father in Christ Jesus says to you this New year that, He is not of this world and also wants us be aware that we are not of it either. (Jn. 17:14-16) We are not to feel like those who depend on the source or systems of the world for their livelihood. Jesus is obligated liberally to supply all our every need in large quantum according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:19) Again, not dependent on any earthly system or source (Psalms 19:1, Heb. 1:1-3).
Beloved, this is a command; take your eyes off your circumstances or the happenings, He is watching to see that His Word come true in your life this year 2018. (Jer. 1:12) He did so to the people of Israel. (Jos. 21:45&23:14) Psalm 105:37-45 reveals His grace based provision to the children of Israel. Our case would not be different. Do not doubt God’s omnipotence-all powerful and sacrificial love, to save, deliver, heal, preserve and protect you. We cannot save or deliver ourselves. (Matt 14:26-31) Also, apostle Paul struggled when he depended on his self-effort. (Rom 7:19) It was only when he looked away from himself and unto Jesus that he received his deliverance. (Rom 7:24–25) This year be provoked with the divine favour of God in all areas of life – body ,soul and spirit because these are imparted by the grace and favour of God. Indeed, you have to realise and accept God’s grace- favour-by been born again or rededicate your life afresh to experience His unsearchable riches (Eph 3:80) fully because they are already yours (Psalm 5:12) and only your faith in Christ can actualise them. Also, more and more grace will be given to you as you grow in God’s knowledge every day throughout this glorious year in Jesus Name Amen. If you have kept your eyes fixed unto yourself, it is now time to hold in and entrench your whole being on Jesus- the unquestionable and unwavering Word of God this year. ( Matt4:4, Prov 4:20-27).
