WORD FOCUS: THE GUARANTEED RISK
TEXT: Joshua 3: 15 “And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (for Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,)…”
Oftentimes, crossing the river Jordan was done before the harvest time, when the banks of the river were visible. However, God gave the priests a risky instructions that defied common sense. They were to cross the Jordan River during the time of the harvest; at the time when the Jordan River overflowed its banks and the stones people often step on when they cross the river were completely submerged in the waters. So the chances of slipping and drowning in the river Jordan was very high. Do you know that God has not changed the nature of His instructions? His instructions will never agree with common sense. Every instruction from God puts you at a risk of failure. The good news is that God guarantees the risk.
Beloved, you cannot avoid the risk element involved in trusting God to manifest the seemingly impossible in your life. The risk factor is always about letting go or giving when common sense says contrary. The Bible is a catalogue of people who chose to take risk of trusting God’s word and placing themselves against the tide of common sense. Interestingly, these people were stars in the firmament of their generation. Do you know God wants to make you a star in your generation?(Daniel 12:3). So don’t become adverse to risk. That is God’s way of getting you out of any comfort zone. The greater the pressure, the greater the risk that will be required of you to validate your faith. It is a loud statement that God is your priority.
Don’t allow the comfort of your present position deceive you. There is something better than your present position that awaits you when you obey God’s instruction. God spells opportunity with the Word – risk. Opportunities are already waiting on the other side of the risky instruction you have been avoiding to take. Remember, God guarantees the risk factor involved in trusting His Word with grace. Declare today: Lord I discard every excuse and explanation to maintain my comfort zone. I am ready and willing to do your will in spite of the risk.
