WORD FOCUS: THE ADVOCATE
TEXT: John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you….”
The Holy Spirit is the advocate, the one called alongside to help you. What is the job of an advocate? An advocate seeks to advance your course, defend you and ensure that certain things come to pass in your favour. So, the Holy Spirit who is on your inside is advocating for your progress. He may be invisible, but His works are evident to the physical eyes.
Just like any advocacy, you must co-operate with the advocate. You do not contradict the laws and expect certain things to be advocated on your behalf, you must understand how it works. For any form of advocacy, you must respect the law; the basis for advocacy is to find out the aspect of the law that is not being implemented or not being executed properly; so that you can begin to push strongly for it. The Holy Spirit had been given to you, to advocate for our progress. However, your competence is a very powerful tool to maximize the help of the Holy Spirit. If you are not competent in the works of your hands, you limit what the Holy Spirit can do in terms of your progress. Why? It is a law that, the hand of the diligent man will bear wealth (Prov.10:4).
That means, if you are diligent, whether there’s rain or sunshine, you will always be at the winning end. The force of diligence repositions men. Stated differently, if you put the force of diligence to bear, the Spirit of God would begin to advocate for you, bringing down the walls of tribalism, corruption and making sure that you get into places that truly matter. Make this Prayer: I trust and rely on the help of the advocate to defend my course. I acknowledge that my advocate has never lost any case and He won’t start now.
