WORD FOCUS: STOP DOING THINGS THAT DON’T WORK
TEXT: Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord….”
The Book of Matt 16:18-19 reveals to us how Jesus acknowledged Peter’s confession of who He was- Jesus as the Christ. Upon this, He quickly exposes Peter’s spiritual condition; which was positive and full of the Spirit. Hence He further declared what He will do and that is in verse 19 quote. The key represents power. authority, knowledge, and wisdom of God. The right keys open the doors. Covenant practices for breakthroughs are necessary. In other words, we must apply Scriptural solutions to our challenges for us to have success, and a continuous study of the practice of the Word gives us victory.
When it comes to the Christian life, we try to accomplish things with tools that don’t work or don’t make sense. Why did Paul write, ‘Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom’? Because when the word of Christ dwells richly in your heart, you’re equipped with God’s wisdom. You can’t solve a problem by using the very elements that caused it. You need God’s wisdom, and it’s found in His Word. Less than 30 percent of Christians read their Bible daily. Think about that: 70 percent of Christians look for the answer in the wrong places. When you have a problem, the first thing you should ask is, ‘What does God’s Word say about this?’ ‘The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple’ (Psalm 119:130). Instead of doing things that don’t work – turn to God’s Word. Finally, Eccl 10:10 “If the iron be blunt, and he does not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.” helps us to address the issues of life. The Word of God gives us supernatural insight into the issues of life. Get committed to putting the Word to work as a way of life.
