WORD FOCUS: RADIATE JESUS (1)
TEXT: Acts 4:13 “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus…”
I’ve always loved reading this scripture in Acts 4:13 where people could tell the apostles had been with Jesus. I am sure they had a glow about them because a person’s countenance tells all. When people have been with Jesus, they radiate Him. They look like Him, act like Him and sound like Him. Actually, there’s nothing super spiritual or complicated about radiating Jesus. It simply comes from spending time in His presence and hanging out with Him. James 4:8 invites us to draw near to Him and promises in return that He will draw near to us. We become His vessels or agents. We become His hands, His mouth and His feet on this earth. The Bible sums it up by saying “…as He is, so are we in this world”
The whole point is that the presence of God is not reserved for your church or your prayer closet. It is also to be experienced in your living room, your bedroom, your automobile, your kitchen, your job and everywhere else you go. There should be no place we would rather be than in the presence of God, and there’s no place He would rather we be. His presence changes us from inside out and that’s good for us. Moses spent 40 days in the presence of God on top of a mountain, and it changed him. When he came down, his face glowed (Exodus 34:35). It was clear in Acts 4 that peter and John had spent time with Jesus, which is God’s plan. It’s how He intends for us to portray Jesus to the world. The more time you spend with Jesus[the word] the more of Him you become.
