WORD FOCUS: INTERACTING WITH LIGHT [3]

TEXT: Luke 10:39-40 “39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me….”

What distinguishes people in life is not where they are born, but their choices and decisions. Mary sat at Jesus’ feet to receive light, while Martha was distracted with service. Does it mean service is wrong? No! Service done without light becomes a frustration. Remember, light reveals and discloses, therefore the light from God’s word discloses the benefits of service to you. That means, though service is important, getting the light of God’s word is priority. Apostle Peter “…if anyone serves, it should be from the strength God provides….”.This strength is received by interacting with light. Distraction are not necessarily bad things, but they are simply misplaced priorities. To become what God has planned for your life, identifying priority is the key. In life, we must learn the law of priority – focusing on the most important things and doing them. The key to effectiveness in service is to first of all interact with light. Remember, in the absence of light service becomes frustration.
If you want to be effective in anything that will influence other people, be it your business, ministry, vision etc, sit under light and interact with it –Meditate on the word of God and build up yourself by increasing your capacity to accommodate best you want to do. The amount of light you expose yourself to is the amount of light you will impact the world with; whatever you expose yourself to constantly, you become. When meditating, meditate on scriptural facts not on promises. A fact is something that cannot be denied, just like you cannot doubt the existence of day and night, there are certain facts in the scripture about you that cannot be denied.
Declare these facts over yourself now – I acknowledge that as Christ is so I am also in this world, the same Spirit that raised Him up from the death is at work in me energizing and quickening my mortal body. Therefore, I win the battle of distractions by making good choices and decisions in life. Interacting with the light of God’s word has become my delight. Spirit of the living God help me to prioritize my moments. Help me focus on getting light to enable my service in your vineyard.
