WORD FOCUS: GET GRACE FOR THE PACE (2)
TEXT: Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need…”
Many of us live a very busy life that seems to be on-the-go more than we would like at times, we face legitimate demands on our time and our emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual quotient. Life is plain busy and a lot of it is legitimate. We all experience seasons when it feels like there are too many needs, or too much to do. Right? So what do we do? We have two options: A) have a major meltdown; B) get grace for the pace. Sometimes option A doesn’t sound too bad, the thought of having a meltdown sounds good on certain days; but who wants to live like that? There is a better way. Let’s just run to the throne of grace and load up! You may be facing challenges, to-do-list that won’t quit, overwhelming responsibilities, the straw-that-wants-to –break-the-Carmel’s-back, spiritual battles, burdens, care, and deadline that make your load feel heavy. Matthew 11:28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burn out…..? Come to me, Get away with me and you will recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me – watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep Company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly” (MSG) I encourage you to take time to appropriate this verse: “Be strong (strengthened inwardly) in the grace (spiritual blessing) that is (to be found only) in Christ Jesus”
Be strengthened inwardly by God’s grace – access His “grace for the pace”. He wants you to finish your race of faith with joy. We all need His grace to keep us strengthened and replenished for an entire lifetime. His grace brings us the relief we need in our race. If you are used to operating in God’s grace, then it is usually easy to discern when you are operating outside of God’s grace. The symptoms of operating outside of God’s grace commonly include unusual frustration, dissatisfaction, things just not working, physical symptoms in our bodies, emotional unrest and as someone once put it, ‘it feels like taking a shower with your socks on!’ things just don’t flow. Everything seems difficult. Does this describe any facet of your life now? What can you do to change it? Remember, God always dispenses grace to those who come and get it don’t quit too soon …stay strong to the end. Fight the fight of faith, run the race to the end. The Lord wants to give you a supernatural burst of “adrenalized energy” – a deposit of great grace – so you can finish strong and hit the finish line tape with joy!
