CROSS OVER

MONDAY 17TH FEB., 2020

WORD FOCUS: CROSS OVER
TEXT: Mark 4:35-41 “And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship,…”

After Jesus woke up and calmed the storm, He gave his disciples a faith lesson that we all can use. Jesus asked them “why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” actually Jesus was making the point that fear and faith are opposites, and there’s no room for both in the same boat. Fear will rob you of faith. Jesus had already told the disciples, “Let’s cross over.” Jesus did not say, “Let’s see if we can make it”. In other words, the disciples had God’s word on the subject just as you already have God’s Word on whatever you’re facing. The problem was the disciples got their eyes off God’s word and on the winds and waves. They got scare because of what they saw happening around them.

We’ve all done that. The disciples in Mark 4 sure had a Word from Jesus, we too have His word. Psalms 91 promises us protection in everything all the time, but in the middle of the storm, when faced with tremendous fear we act like the disciples. The reality is that thoughts and fears come to us all, as Christians we already have God’s Word but do we act like it? Or do we allow fear to grip us and paralyze us?

Frankly, we all have a choice. The storms of life come to all, and when they do, will we believe God’s Word or what we see? Choose faith not fear. Faith is the boat that will help us cross over to victory every time. Today, spend some time confessing the scriptures in your area of need. Confess them often. They will run off fear in your life.
